brucellosis

It is known that this bacterial disease is transmitted mostly through raw milk from cows and dairy products made from unpasteurized milk. However, a second important source of Brucellosis is dogs. Sick dogs are always carriers. Spontaneous abortion is the first indication of brucellosis. Transmission occurs through oral and mucous membranes. Male dogs acquire the infection from infected female dogs through mating. In addition, contamination occurs by licking the vulva of sick females and collecting their urine. Females also contract the disease as a result of mating and oral ingestion of the bacteria that cause the disease. Therefore, female dogs should be checked for brucellosis before breeding. It is a disease characterized by fever attacks that rise with chills and do not fall. Despite treatment, deaths may occur.
