Anthrax
Anthrax is a bacterial infectious disease seen in grass-eating animals. The microbe that causes the disease is found in soil and pastures. The microbe mixes with the animal's digestive system and from there into the blood, causing all organs of the animal to fail. The most important feature of the anthrax microbe is that it creates structures called "spores" that are extremely resistant to the external environment. These spores are widely found in soil in nature and are highly resistant to environmental conditions. They can survive for years in outdoor environments. There is a very small possibility that anthrax can be transmitted from person to person. The transmission from a diseased animal to a person is as follows: 1. By contact with an anthrax wound on an animal. 2. By eating the meat of an anthrax-infected animal. 3. By breathing the air containing anthrax spores. Anthrax microbes can survive at temperatures up to 120 ºC. The disease does not pass to humans from meat cooked above 120 ºC. Since anthrax spores are generally 1 to 10 microns in size, they can remain suspended in the air for a long time and pass from air to humans through breathing. The microbe used in the anthrax terror that shook the world was specially produced in the laboratory and pulverized. There are three types of anthrax disease, depending on the mode of transmission: 1. Cutaneous Anthrax, 2. Lung Anthrax, 3. Intestinal Anthrax. The most effective method of protection against anthrax is vaccination. Especially those who raise large and small cattle and those who are engaged in farm work constitute the most important risk groups, so these people must be vaccinated during epidemic times.
