How to Obtain a Pre-Employment Health Report?
The process generally consists of the following steps:
Determining the Hazard Class of the Job
(Low hazard – Hazardous – Very hazardous)
Submitting an Application
An application is made to the Occupational Health and Safety Services Organization (OSGB), the workplace physician, or an authorized health institution.
Medical History and Physical Examination
The employee's medical history and current condition are evaluated.
Conducting Necessary Tests
Evaluation and Report Preparation
The report concludes with one of the following:
- "Fit for work"
- "Conditionally fit for work"
- "Unfit for work"
as the conclusion.
What Are the Contents of the Pre-Employment Health Examination?
The examinations vary depending on the job the employee will perform and the risks of the job. However, they are generally grouped under the following headings:
- Physical Examination
Height, weight, body mass index
Blood pressure measurement
General system examination (heart, lungs, musculoskeletal system, etc.)
- Laboratory Tests
Complete Blood Count (CBC)
Fasting Blood Sugar
Liver Enzymes (ALT, AST)
Kidney Function Tests (Urea, Creatinine)
Urinalysis
- Vision and Hearing Tests
Visual acuity test
Color blindness test (when necessary)
Audiometry (especially for noisy jobs)
- Lung and Respiratory Assessment
Chest X-ray
Spirometry (SFT)
(For workers in dusty, chemical, or confined spaces)
- Cardiological Assessment
EKG (for working at heights, heavy and hazardous work)
- Psychotechnical and Psychiatric Assessment
May be required especially for drivers, operators, and jobs requiring attention.
